On one side was a large well trained army and on the other were a helpless and virtually unarmed people led by an odd assortment of ill armed soldiers and freedom fighters backed by the whole population in their just struggle. For these people there was no alternative but to win and they were ready to pay any price. They fought desperately and laid down their lives willingly.
